Your blog will play an important role in documenting your learning for the course and will act as a communication tool between you and your instructor, as well as other course participants and the worldwide maker learning community.

  • Blog posts will be required for the first 10 classes of the semester
  • Blog posts will be due before the following class
  • Submission of each of the 10 blog posts will be through the class BrightSpace website (10 x 4% = 40%)

Blog Writing: For each topic you are expected to create a blog post with the following elements:

  1. Include a concise summary of the technologies and/or resources covered in the class topic.
  2. Reflect on how the technologies or resources could be useful for other projects or in other settings.
  3. Highlight one or more things you created in the class by employing a multimedia strategy by using text and one or more other media to help make your post more engaging (e.g., photo, screencast, podcast, video, sketchnote, infographics, or other formats).
  4. Include one or more links to resources consulted for the class topic, including web pages, images, videos, etc.
  5. Use the WordPress category β€œtopic-reflection” for your post.

Assessment of this assignment will be based on the quality of a learner’s topic responses.


To encourage experimentation and risk-taking, this is a Competency-based course, and a grade of Complete or Incomplete will be assigned for each assignment (along with constructive feedback) as well as a final Complete or Incomplete grade at the end of the course.
